Disney Infinity 3.0 will bring Star Wars into the game

It’s official: Star Wars is joining Disney Infinity in a big way.

This fall, Disney Infinity 3.0 will bring Star Wars play sets spanning the entire movie universe. Not only that, but all of the characters will work with all of the Star Wars play sets — a change from past sets where only some of the characters could move between worlds.

The first two play sets will focus on the existing trilogies:

  • Twilight of the Republic is set in the Episodes I-III timeline and lets you play as Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano,
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Darth Maul.
  • Rise Against the Empire features
Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Darth
Vader and is — of course — set in the timeline of the original trilogy.

A play set to be named later — and released this winter — will be based on “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which is set to open in theaters Dec. 18.

The Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack will be priced at $64.99 — a big price cut from the original suggested retail price of $74.99 for Disney Infinity 2.0. A release date wasn’t announced, but we’re guessing it’ll be Force Friday (Sept. 4).

In addition to the Star Wars playsets, Disney will be releasing new characters based on “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (Iron Man in his Hulkbuster suit!) and the new Pixar movie “Inside Out.”
