Tom Sawyer Island, Liberty Square Riverboat to undergo refurbishment

Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat at Magic Kingdom will undergo an extensive refurbishment starting Oct. 5, 2020, according to Disney’s refurbishment schedule.

The full length of the refurbishment and what will be done is unknown. The last time the Liberty Square Riverboat had an extensive refurbishment was in 2018 when the ship got a new paint job, some work done on the interior and a new boiler was placed on the ship.

Since both the ship and Tom Sawyer’s Island will be closed, it cold mean that the water in the Rivers of America might be drained for some other work. We are still waiting for an official word from Disney as to the extent of the refurbishment.
