What’s the deal with all those Disney Spirit Jerseys?
When Disney breathlessly announced the pending arrival of last week, my first thought was, âWait, whatâs the difference between Millennial pink and ?â
Once I got over how tragically unhip I am, I started wondering what the deal is with all the Disney Spirit Jerseys â and why do we capitalize Spirit Jersey, anyway?
The answer is that this is a relatively new collaboration for Disney with a California-based clothing brand called Spirit Jersey, a division of Spirit Clothing Co. It started last June with a pair of short-sleeved, ombre-dyed t-shirts and has proliferated since. This spring there is even a pink Flower & Garden Festival Spirit Jersey with âNatural Beautyâ written across the back.
So, whatâs the appeal?
Spirit Jerseys are especially Instagram-worthy, as you can see by the 13,000+ posts tagged with #spiritjersey (at last count). They will also fit everyone, man or woman, slim or fluffy. And, for me anyway, they are a welcome change from all those tissue-thin t-shirts that fall apart after a few turns through the washing machine.
Prices are a bit steep for a t-shirt: Disney Parks styles sell for $59.99 for adults and $39.99 for kids. Other styles â the character designs you may find in your local Disney Store â sell for $49.95 for adults.
Spirit Jerseys are unisex and run large. I order a size smaller than I typically wear. If youâre wondering what size you would wear, hereâs the size chart for adults:
Iâd love to see Disney expand the partnership with Spirit Jersey. The company makes V-neck jerseys, short-sleeved polos and jerseys, hooded jerseys, and even dresses. If their namesake jerseys are any indication, the quality is excellent.
You wonât find Millennial pink online just yet, and rose gold is sold out. In addition, thereâs a line of princess designs you will only find in stores. But we did pick out a few favorites that are available now at ShopDisney. So you know, we do get some compensation if you purchase items from these links. Hereâs our full disclosure for more information.
Walt Disney World Spirit Jersey for Adults  in Purple is the most common style, and can be found in many colors for either Walt Disney World or Disneyland
Mineral wash in blue is a variation on the classc style.Â
