Disney announces dates and details for Frozen Summer Fun Live
Disney has announced the details of this year’s Frozen Summer Fun Live event, which will take over Hollywood Studios from June 17-Sept. 7. Just three days after Star Wars Weekends wrap up, Frozen will take over with a royal procession, photo opportunities, special merchandise and food and beverage offerings. Among the “cool” events announced today on the Disney Parks Blog:
Disney Parks Blog |
- Frozen Royal Welcome: It’s part parade, part “Let it Go” sing-along. Anna, Elsa and Kristoff welcome visitors to the park twice a day with a mini-parade that includes Anna riding a horse-drawn sleigh and Elsa making her appearance on an ice palace float. And of course, it wouldn’t be Frozen without Olaf, who will also make an appearance. The parade stops twice along the route as visitors are invited to sing along to “Let it Go!”
- Frozen sing-along in a new venue: Speaking of singing, the popular Frozen sing-along will have a new home this summer: the newly rechristened Hyperion Theater, which was known as Superstar Television Theater, home of the American Idol Experience, until last summer. The show will include new in-theater effects. In case the name sounds familiar: There is a Hyperion Theater at Disney’s California Adventure park, where a live version of Aladdin is performed.
- Olaf’s Summer Cool Down: Olaf and friends will visit the Event Stage to entertain visitors several times a day. Disney promises Olaf will “share a burst from his personal snow loud to cool things off.” As someone who has visited Disney World “In Summer,” that’s something I’d really like to see.
- “Coolest Summer Ever” Dance Party: As temperatures cool off, a dance party heats up the area around the Event Stage, with DJ Chill and some favorite Disney characters. In keeping with Disney’s push to pair social media with park events, visitors can make song requests using a special event hashtag.
- “Frozen” Fireworks: One of the best things to come to Hollywood Studios in a long time, the fireworks will be back. As the end of the night, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf appear at the Event Stage to launch the pyrotechnics.
If you’re trying to reconcile the wishes of your young Padawan with those of your little princess, take heart: While there is no overlap between Frozen Summer Fun Live and Star Wars Weekends, you could hit both — if your kids aren’t stuck making up snow days until July. The last Star Wars Weekend is June 12-14, just three days before Frozen takes over.
