Dapper Days descend on Magic Kingdom at Disney World

The Magic Kingdom had an air of the past on March 14 as hundreds of people descended upon the park in Disney World “dressed to the nines.”

One of two Dapper Days was held at the park, as men sported bow ties, vests and (in many cases) looked as if they were trying out for a role in “Newsies”, while women wore skirts and blouses, all looking as if they belonged in the 1950s (or an episode of Marvel’s Agent Carter TV show).

The unofficial Dapper Day events started in 2011, according to the Dapper Day website. Events are held twice a year at Disneyland and Disney World. One is held every year at Disneyland Paris.

According to the site, “Dapper Day Events celebrate the tradition of ‘stepping out in style’ and are meant to showcase you at your best. We are not period-specific. All manner of elegant attire is encouraged from vintage-inspired classics to chic contemporary looks. Active and retired military are encouraged to wear your dress blues or service uniforms if you like.”

And those participating came out in force.
