New Disney-related products spotted at Toy Fair

Toy Fair may be over, but the fun is just beginning. Here’s a look at just a few of the more interesting — some might say “wacky” — Marvel and Star Wars toys highlighted at New York’s annual toy extravaganza. Time to start your holiday wish list!

Lighted baby Groot: We can’t get enough of little baby Groot. This version has LED lights in his hands and in the vine entwined around him. Gizmodo points out this would make “the most adorable nightlight,” and we have to agree. From Uncle Milton.

Furbacca: Haven’t you always wondered what a cross between Furby and Chewbacca would look like? No? Well, somebody did — and you’ll be able to get your own this fall for $79.99. According to, Furbacca “growls like Chewie, hums songs from the Star Wars films, plays virtual games, and much more.”

Big-head Chewbacca: Chewy sure made his presence known at Toy Fair. Mashable describes this guy as a “life-size Chewbacca,” but we don’t know. It looks like the head might be life-size, but the body … not so much. From Underground Toys.

Lightsaber tongs: For the adult who wants to play with a toy lightsaber but can’t bear to buy the new Bladebuilders kit. Mashable put this on its list of “15 WTF toys,” but we think it only belongs on that list if WTF means “Wait, That’s Fabulous!” These are already available for about $40 from Underground Toys.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier: With nearly 3,000 pieces, this Avengers tie-in looks impressive. Newsarama previously reported that the complete carrier measures more than 31 inches long, 17″ wide and 11″ high and includes various support vehicles and a dozen mini figures. The set should be available in stores soon with an adult-sized price tag of $349.99.

Play-Doh Smashdown Hulk: Way at the other end of the price spectrum, Hulk and Play-Doh may be a smash made in Heaven. The set lets kids build brick walls and then smash them. The cans double as heads and the body parts as molds. Available now for about $13. Via amNewYork.
