It’s official: Animated Guardians coming to Disney XD in 2015
Marvel’s most unlikely heroes are set to conquer another galaxy: Television.
We’ve previously reported that a Guardians of the Galaxy animated series was in the works, but now we know it will hit the small screen on Disney XD in 2015.
Disney and Marvel made the announcement Friday at New York Comic Con.
“This is a very exciting time for the Marvel Animation Studio as we get to explore the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe by developing the first-ever ‘Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy’ animated series,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television, in a news release. “After starring in the biggest movie of 2014, everyone wants more of Star-Lord and his crew – now they’ll get it.”
Meanwhile, Forbes magazine suggests the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which is still bringing in a few million bucks a week at the domestic box office, could hit $800 million worldwide before its first run is finished.
The new animated show adds to an already impressive lineup for Marvel Television, which currently has three ongoing series: Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Hulk and the Agents of SMASH, and Ultimate Spider-Man.
