First look at Disney’s ‘Tomorrowland’ trailer

Disney built up a deafening buzz about its forthcoming movie “Tomorrowland” long before any plot details were known.

Maybe it was the title, which brings to mind Space Mountain and the retro Carousel of Progress. Or maybe it was just the names involved: Damon Lindelof, co-creator of “Lost.” Brad Bird, writer and director of “The Incredibles” and “Ratatouille.” And George Clooney, who needs no introduction.

The mystery surrounding the plot only stoked interest in the project. But now the shroud is beginning to be lifted. Disney has released the first full-length trailer for the movie.

And some details of the plot are out now, too. According to Entertainment Weekly:

A Florida girl who dreams of the future while watching the launchpads of Cape Canaveral being disassembled goes exploring one day and, after landing in a bit of trouble, finds herself in possession of a mysterious pin. Touching it reveals a vision of a place that may not be a different world but simply a better one. Then it’s gone … and the quest to discover the real Tomorrowland begins.

“What Hogwarts is to magic, Tomorrowland is to science: They are both easy to find if you are a wizard and very difficult to find if you’re a Muggle,” Lindelof told the magazine. “Walt Disney is not a character in our movie, but he is referenced as having some involvement in this mysterious place called Tomorrowland, as a huge futurist and aficionado of space travel, rocketry, cities of the future, and space travel.”

“Tomorrowland” is due in theaters May 22, 2015. Watch the trailer here:
