Put your child’s face on an Iron Man or Captain America action figure
BusinessWire |
If your kid wants to be a super hero, now is his chance — but you have to act fast.
As part of Disney’s Super Hero September campaign, you can have a customized 12-inch, articulated action figure of Iron Man or Captain America created with your child’s face on it — or yours.
From now until Sept. 29, Hasbro and 3DPlusMe are setting up mobile scanning stations at 10 Walmart and two Sam’s Club stores across the country to start the process.
You’ll have to visit one of the stores to have your child’s face scanned at the in-store 3D scanning station. The process takes about 30 seconds and uses a DLSR camera, according to Bidness Etc. About four weeks later, you can either pick up the action figure at the store or have it shipped home.
The process is recommended for kids age 4 and up. The 12-inch figures will cost about $45.
It’s just the latest example of Disney exploring what 3D printing can do. Disney made a big splash by allowing park visitors to encase themselves in carbonite — a la Han Solo — during Star Wars Weekends. And it first toyed with 3D personalized dolls two years ago when it put girls’ faces on princess dolls.
