Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower reopens in July with special event

Disney Vacation Club’s Top of the World Lounge at Contemporary Resort’s Bay Lake Tower will reopen in July with a special hard-ticket event.

The “Bound to be Bad” Fireworks Party is part of the Membership Magic and will be held on July 8-10, prior to the official reopening on July 11.

Hosted by villain super-fans deviously decked out in their “Disney-bounding” best, this Membership Magic event includes a sinister spread of ominous appetizers, an open bar of cunningly crafted cocktails, and a raven’s-eye view of the “Disney Enchantment” nighttime spectacular at Magic Kingdom Park.

This hard-ticket event will only be offered to eligible members who are staying on Disney World property, who will receive more information about the reopening and event.

The lounge will now be called Top of the World Lounge – A Villains Lair. The backstory is as follows:

Whether pursuing puppies or stealing souls, messing with a mermaid or belittling a beast, evil-doing is exhausting. And since a dishonest day’s work is frowned upon by mainstream masses, the deliciously devious decompress away from judging eyes––hiding deep underground… or on top of the world. Swapping stories of sabotage and toasting with tales of terror, the unsavory unwind in places inaccessible to the innocent.

So, when our own Top of the World Lounge temporarily closed its doors atop Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, it didn’t take long for the idle enclave to become a devils’ playground. We’re not sure how they got here (we can only guess by monorail), but we do know they were here. For when we returned to reopen this picturesque place to mingling Members, we found stuff left behind by these hustlers in a hurry.

Curious couture from their wicked wardrobes. Artwork befitting their ghastly galleries. And rebellious recipes for their cunning concoctions. That’s when we did what so many great Cast Members have done before us.

We gave the place a longer name. Welcome home to the Top of the World Lounge – A Villains Lair. Like the best Disney stories, it’s a place of magic… with a touch of tragic.

The location typically operates daily from 6 p.m. to midnight. To gain access to the lounge, eligible members should provide their eligible digital Membership Card (found in My Disney Experience). Eligibility includes Members with direct purchase benefits indicated as Y on the back of the digital Membership Card as well as a resort reservation at any Disney Vacation Club resort, or Disney-owned-and-operated hotel, at Walt Disney World Resort.
