Dates for Osborne Spectacle of Lights at Disney World are announced

The light show has been a staple during Christmas time at  Hollywood Studios since 1995 when Jennings Osborne and his family made a deal with Disney.

Jennings Osborne of Little Rock, Arkansas, started decorating his house in 1986 after his daughter asked if they could decorate their house in lights. 

Each year it grew and by 1993 there were 3 million lights and a lawsuit against the family The light show had grown so much it was causing traffic problems and people in his community were upset.

 In 1995, the courts had closed down the light show and that’s when Disney World came calling. The next think you know, Residential Street at Hollywood Studios is taken over by the light show. There are now 10 miles of rope lights strung throughout the park.
