Downtown Disney construction updates at Disney World for summer 2014

Disney World is introducing some new entertainment and shopping for the summer at Downtown Disney as construction proceeds to transform the food and shopping center into the new Disney Springs.

When completed in 2016, Disney Springs will have double the shopping, dining and entertainment experiences.

This summer, nine different acts are scheduled nightly with more than 30 live performances daily. In addition, two new Starbucks locations will open,  a storefront at Downtown Disney West Side and a kiosk near World of Disney at Downtown Disney Marketplace, according to a Disney press release.

A special Marketplace Co-Op will be the area where new Disney retail concepts can be tested, including:

Beautifully Disney: A beauty destination for women featuring make-up, fragrance and beauty accessories.

Cherry Tree Lane: Accessories for the sophisticated woman with a passion for scarves, shoes, bags and jewelry.

D-Tech on Demand: A place to personalize and customize your own electronic accessories.

The Trophy Room: Vintage-inspired, lifestyle sports apparel and collectibles.

Disney Centerpiece: Home products offering a splash of Disney in room furnishings, textiles and everyday ware.

Zoey and Pickles: A girls’ destination with the latest trends.

A Food Truck Park will open later in the summer between Bongos Cuban Café and the new Starbucks at Downtown Disney West Side and will be the new permanent home for four Disney Food Trucks.

In Late May, at at Downtown Disney West Side, a United World of Soccer shop will open in time for the World Cup.

The new Disney Springs will be comprised of four areas:

The Landing: (scheduled to open in early 2015) Set along the waterfront, this area features nationally known restaurateurs.

The Marketplace: A shopping area including an expanded World of Disney store.

West Side: New enhanced series of elevated spaces that provide both shade and an overlook to the activity below.

The Town Center: (scheduled to open in 2016): This will have sophisticated mix of shopping and more dining.

Two parking garages and two pedestrian bridges also will be added.
