Idina Menzel will be singing “Let It Go” on the 86th Academy Awards.
A lot of speculation had been taking place whether Menzel, who played Elsa in the movie “Frozen,” would be singing at the Oscars. At the same time the movie was released pop singer Demi Lovato did a cover version.
Many speculated that Lovato may sing the Oscar-nominated song on the March 2 show, airing on ABC. Yet, there is no one better than Menzel to sing the song, especially since Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez said they wrote the song specifically for Menzel. Robert Lopez referred to Menzel, according to the Wall Street Journal as “one of the most glorious voices of Broadway and an icon in musical theater.”
Menzel wrote on her Facebook page, “It’s really happening. I’m singing on the Oscars! Surreal. Thank u frozen family and Oscar producers for this incredible opportunity.”
The song this past week turned turned Platinum, meaning that it sold 1 million copies.
