Her Universe will be back online this week
Her Universe — the fashion house of choice for female sci-fi fans — is coming back online this week after undergoing a facelift.
When it returns Tuesday at 7 p.m. Eastern, Her Universe will have a new look, a new lineup of merchandise — and a new owner. The brand was purchased last fall by Hot Topic, which has been selling Her Universe styles for some time.
Her Universe will continue to be overseen by its founder, Ashley Eckstein, who was the voice of Ahsoka Tano in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”
“The Her Universe brand that we’ve all grown and built together will continue as you’ve known it, but exciting growth and amazing opportunities lie ahead,” Eckstein said when she announced the sale last fall.
For those who aren’t familiar with Her Universe, it has long been one of the best the sources for Star Wars and Marvel fashion for women. Outside of the Disney Universe, it also creates fashion for fans of Star Trek, Doctor Who and Transformers.
The merger with Hot Topic will allow Her Universe to expand its offerings in a number of ways, Eckstein said:
- More plus sizes (from a brand that already did a good job of serving a wide range of shapes and sizes)
- Some fashion for men
- More licenses, more active wear and more fashion categories
- Sales in Europe
Her Universe clothes will continue to be available at HerUniverse.com, as well as at Hot Topic, Torrid, ThinkGeek.com and the Disney Parks.
Eckstein will be doing a Facebook live chat on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Eastern (4 p.m. Pacific) to celebrate the relaunch answer questions.
