‘Avengers 2’ to be released in 2015 with Joss Whedon directing

Disney has confirmed that “Avengers 2” will be released in 2015 with Joss Whedon at the helm.

”Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015,” Disney said in a statement.

“As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel’s The Avengers 2 as well as help develop a new live-action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe,” according to the statement.

Whedon tells Craveonline in an exclusive interview that it was clear to him that he wanted to say more about these characters, adding that the decision to do “Avengers 2” was a “spectacularly easy yes.”
