Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin celebrates 25 years at Disneyland

On Jan. 26, 1994, the Toon Town Cab Company opened for business in Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland.

The attraction, based on the successful film “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” was supposed to be one numerous Roger Rabbit rides around the world. Plans originally had Roger Rabbit themed rides in Disneyland, Hollywood Studios in Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland. However, after financial troubles with Euro Disney Resort, plans were cut back to just Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin opened.

Guests enter Toontown, walking through dark alleys, the Ink & Paint Club and the Weasels’ hideout before getting to the Toon Town Cab Company.

You then board a yellow and black taxicab with whitewall tires named Lenny, a cousin of Benny the Cab from the film. You then head on a mission to save Jessica Rabbit from the Weasels, driving around green Toon-toxic Dip they have purposely been spilling on the streets. Each time a taxi rolls into the toxic dip, it starts to spin wildly.

Fun Facts

  • The ride features 17 Audio-Animatronics, 59 animated props and 20 special effects.
  • The ingredients for DIP is acetone, benzene, and turpentine. These are the three main ingredients in paint thinner.

At the start of the queue, the license plates hanging on the wall have code-like puns of various Disney characters and slogans, including
