Disney announces opening date for Avatar land at Animal Kingdom in Disney World

Pandora — The World of Avatar will open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom May 27, 2017, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced on the company’s earnings call tonight.

That gives Disney’s Imagineers just 108 days to put the finishing touches on the floating mountains, bioluminescent plants and more before guests arrive.

The land will open with two rides: the Na’vi River Journey, a gentle ride through a bioluminescent rainforest, and Avatar Flight of Passage, an adventure ride that allows guests to fly atop a Banshee.

In addition, there will be a restaurant, bar and shopportunities. Details on the offering at Satu’li Canteen and the Pongu Pongu lounge have not been announced.
