Magic Kingdom will have new opening show in 2017 as trains undergo refurbishment
Disney World is introducing a new park opening show at the Magic Kingdom in January.
Starting Jan. 9, 2017, guests will now be able to get on to Main Street, U.S.A. before the official opening for a drink or breakfast. Then when the park officially opens a new open show will take place on the stage in front of Cinderella Castle.
“A Royal Herald will appear to deliver a proclamation and welcome a few familiar characters to the stage, officially opening the park,” according to the Disney Parks Blog.
Normally, those who do not have advance breakfast reservations, wait in the entranceway to watch the opening show in which a train full of characters stop at the entrance train station declaring the park open. But the Walt Disney World Railroad will undergo refurbishment from Jan. 9 to Feb. 17, 2017.
Whether this new show will remain at the castle or return to the entrance is unknown.
