“As we close to make way for a bigger, more beautiful experience, we want to thank all our outstanding and supportive guests, friends, family, and hard-working staff. We’re so excited to reopen this fall, and cannot wait for you all to experience the newly reimagined restaurant we have in store for everyone,” the restaurant’s website said.
The restaurant is one of the most successful in the U.S., ranking 13th in the country with estimated sales of $21.2 million annually, according to Restaurant Business Online.
The restaurant was opened by Levy Restaurants on March 10, 1996 in the full-size replica of a paddle boat.
The boat, which is really a boat-shaped building on a concrete foundation, opened as The Empress Lilly on May 1, 1976 and closed on April 22, 1995.
