When The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights display is shut off Jan. 3, 2016 it will mark the end of a 20-year run at Hollywood Studios at Disney World.
The 10 miles of twinkling rope lights cover the entire Streets of America with the lights dancing to Christmas tunes every 5 to 10 minutes. Just standing in the middle of the street as the lights dance is a – well – spectacle to behold. But the fun part of the lights is looking at the details.
Finding the Hidden Mickeys, Disney characters and purple cat figure. The purple cat figure was mistakenly taken from the Osborne family’s Halloween display when Disney took the lights in 1995. The staff randomly changes the location throughout the show.
And if you look closely, there is an illuminated sign which states – “See You Real Soon.” Is this more than just Mickey Mouse catchphrase? Is this a hint that somehow the lights will be resurrected in another form? Or is a sign, just a sign?
