Disney holiday gift ideas for the home

Every home should be filled with things we treasure, and if you’re reading this, it’s a pretty good bet Disney is one of those things.

So with the holidays upon us, we wanted to share some magical gift ideas for the home — whether it’s yours or a loved one’s.

Set the tone immediately with a Mickey Mouse Christmas wreath for the front door. This pre-lit wreath, which runs on batteries and comes with a timer, is available to order through Etsy ($70). Or, if you’re the creative type, you could make one yourself with pre-made wreaths from the craft store. Turn it into Minnie Mouse with a red and white polka dot bow instead of the Santa hat.

A clock can induce stress in a room that’s supposed to be for relaxing, but not this one. You’ll smile when you see what time it is on this working Cogsworth clock ($109.95 from Amazon.com or $74.95 if you use the new Shop Disney Parks app), complete with swinging pendulum. Unfortunately, this is sold out at the Disney Store, but you can still get it through the Shop Disney Parks app, which is available for iPhone and Android.

If you don’t want Cogsworth to be lonely on the mantel, there’s also a light-up Lumiere ($59.95).

It’s hard to find a Haunted Mansion souvenir that doesn’t have a hint of morbidity about it. That’s why we love these Haunted Mansion bookends ($39.95), which pay homage to the greatest ghost writers of all time.

Mickey Mouse waffles are, of course, a staple of Disney vacations. But why reserve them for breakfast buffets? With a Mickey Mouse waffle maker ($29.95 on sale), you can add some character to breakfast at home.

People who love the food at Disney parks can get a bit obsessed, especially with the signature snacks. These tasty-looking treats are actually salt and pepper shakers ($16.95). Just don’t let anyone try to take a bite out of that Mickey Bar.

A set of Mickey Mouse dessert plates will be useful all year round, and the color makes them perfect to add a whimsical touch to a holiday table (set of 12, $76.95). This design also comes in green and blue, if red isn’t your thing. The Disney Store has a wide range of fun plates, including both melamine and ceramic.

Lots of people suffer from the dryness that comes with turning on the heat in the winter. If you need a humidifier, why not have a wicked cool one? Enter the Darth Vader humidifier ($99.95), which doubles as a nightlight. And if someone accuses you of snoring, you can say, “It wasn’t me. It was him.”
