Adventurers Club t-shirt on sale now
Disney continues to throw bones to fans of the old Adventurers Club, even as the one-time Pleasure Island night club is being turned into the new Edison restaurant.
The latest is an Adventurers Club t-shirt ($36.95) that’s part of the new Twenty Eight & Main collection being introduced this fall at Disney parks. Fans of the old night club, which was famous for its animatronics and interactive performers, may recognize the names of the rooms here — the Zebra Mezzanine, Main Salon, Mask Room, Treasure Room and the Library. And, of course, the club’s official greeting and official drink: Kungaloosh!
The Adventurers Club has been closed since 2009, and fans still beg for it to be resurrected. That seems unlikely at this point, but Disney has tried to appeal to fans in other ways. The Edison, the restaurant and nightclub that is under construction where the Adventurers Club once stood, has some of the same DNA, including live entertainment in an Art Deco-era setting (not quite the 1930s of the original, but not far off). The Edison is scheduled to open mid-2016. And at the Magic Kingdom, the Skipper Canteen restaurant is under construction in Adventureland. The restaurant, which is set to open late this year, will be staffed by Jungle Cruise skippers and will include a meeting room for the Society of Explorers and Adventurers.
Sounds like the kind of place where, like the t-shirt says, you “come in a stranger, leave a little stranger.”
