Photos: Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! parade debuts at the Magic Kingdom

There’s new music, some new characters and a new feel to the “Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It!” street party parade at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.

The new parade kicks off at The Magic Kingdom
at Walt Disney World on Oct. 24, 2014

The parade is revamped and re-themed from the five-year-old “Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It!” Street Party kicked off Oct. 24, 2014.

The floats and parade are essentially the same, the parade goes up Main Street, U.S.A. from the entrance area to the hub around Cinderella Castle where it stops. Music is blared out and guests have the opportunity to dance with characters such as Stitch, Woody, King Louie, Chip and Dale, Phineas & Ferb, Genie and others.

The bigger named characters, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck, dance along atop a the parade floats, waiving at the guests. The music has changed to get rid of the Celebrate It aspect and is geared more toward a dance theme.

There are also two other major changes. The first is an opportunity to shout out and vote on the last song to dance to and the big social media aspect of the parade. Disney, has always been good in using social media to have guests participate in shows (think of sending in jokes to the
Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, tagging photos for the original Cinderella Castle show and the showing of Your Disney Side promotion) and now they are encouraging you to take selfies with the characters at the parade and upload with the hashtag #moveitshakeitpics. At the end of the parade, the photos are shown on screens attached to the floats so you can see yourself and others who have taken pics.

The original Celebrate It parade got old fast because of the parade theme, this gives Disney the ability to make changes as needed to the music and presentation, which we hope they take advantage of, to keep the this small parade fresh.
