Disneyland was opened on July 17, 1955, as part of a major press event broadcast live on ABC.
The gates to the park opened at 2:30 p.m. for the press, construction workers and studio workers, and special guests. About 28,000 people attended but many of the opening day tickets were counterfeit. of
The park, with 18 attractions, opened to the public on July 18.
