Test Track changing over to Chevrolet cars at Disney World
This fall the Test Track will be getting a makeover.
Under a new long-term commitment from GM, the Test Track in Epcot at Walt Disney World will be highlighting Chevrolet cars, Disney announced in a news release. The Test Track will close in April and should re-open by the fall of 2012.
“The re-imagined Test Track Presented by Chevrolet will continue our
shared goal of providing unique and innovative experiences that engage
Disney guests in exciting and interactive ways,” George Aguel, Senior Vice President, Corporate Alliances for the Walt Disney Company, said in the release.
As part of the makeover, there will be a “Chevrolet Design Center at Epcot” immersing visitors into automotive design. Amid Chevrolet concept cars and model vehicles, guests will be able to work at interactive design and styling stations, where they will be able to create their own custom concept vehicles.
According to the release, guests will then buckle into a 6-person “SimCar” ride vehicle and put the design through its paces on the hills, switchbacks and straight-aways of the Test Track circuit. When complete, riders then move to a post-show area filled with special effects and be scored on how well the custom concept vehicle did.
Wow … That's a long closing date for such a flagship ride, huh?
So … Did the track feature FORD cars prior?
It was still GM but it was the company's entire line of products.
